System 1000 - Our Entry Level System

System 1000 represents our entry level hearing restoration system. It runs on a DSP inside the 19-inch 1U Chameleon unit from Soundart in Spain, and operates at a sample rate of 48 KHz with 24-bit audio precision.

Pushing the DSP to its absolute capacity limits, the carefully hand-crafted DSP Assembly algorithm employs 50 overlapping half-Bark frequency bands, in stereo, and performs 4-fold temporal overlap processing. This provides about a quarter of the high-end quality of the System 2000, and half again as much as the System 5000. But despite this it sounds extremely good. Only the finest ears can appreciate the higher performance offered by its high-end siblings.

In return for the simplified processing, our System 1000 offers the absolute lowest throughput latency of all our systems, measuring substantially below 10 ms.

Like the higher performing systems, System 1000 also offers V-Tuning for simple one-knob setup and adjustment for the most common forms of hearing imperfections. But for more difficult corrections it also offers the same symmetric or asymmetric corrections across the 10 standard half-octave audiology testing frequencies, as well as for 12 KHz and 16 KHz.

Built-in equalization de-emphasis is provided as a switchable feature to permit the use of outboard re-emphasis equalization. This preserves DSP headroom in the computations. But you can also dial in some processing attenuation and then simply make up with extra amplification at the output with an external headphone or speaker amplifier.

In addition to these corrections System 1000 provides a headphone crossover system to simulate a speaker environment and reduce listening fatigue. It also offers phase precompensation to overcome the progressive group delays imposed by speaker and headphone inductance. This phase precompensation has the side benefit of providing an adjustable degree of psychoacoustically prepared compressive enhancement to either or both of bass and treble ranges. The headphone crossover and phase precompensation features can be switched on or off as desired.

System 1000 offers the lowest cost alternative to hearing your music the way it was intended to be heard. System 1000 has benefitted enormously from the scientific advances of Systems 2000 and 5000.
